چکیده

A fully-active low-noise amplifier (LNA) for ultrawideband application is presented. Passive on-chip inductor of conventional LNA design is replaced by low-noise active inductor, significantly reducing the total chip area of the proposed CMOS LNA. The core LNA circuit is a cascoded common-source amplifier loaded with an active inductor. Two buffer stages are used to provide the required input and output impedance matching. The amplifier is designed and simulated in 0.13-μm RF CMOS process. It exhibits a forward gain (S21) of 11.2 dB, a noise figure (NF) of 2.2-4.0 dB, and return losses (S11 and S22) of less than –10 dB over the frequency range of 2.0 to 11.2 GHz while consuming only 13.5mW from a power supply of 1.5 V. The proposed amplifier occupies 0.09mm of chip area.

A Broadband Low Power CMOS LNA for 3.1–10.6 GHz UWB Receivers

A new approach for designing an ultra wideband (UWB) CMOS low noise amplifier (LNA) is presented. The aim of this design is to achieve a low noise figure, reasonable power gain and low power consumption in 3.1-10.6 GHz. Also, the figure of merit (FOM) is significantly improved at 180nm technology compared to the other state-of-the-art designs. Improved π-network and T-network are used to obt...

Design of an Inductor-Less LNA Using Resistive Feedback Topology for UWB Applications

Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) is one of the essential components in Ultra Wideband (UWB) devices. Conventional LNA suffers from large chip area, high power consumption and inadequate Noise Figure (NF). A compact UWB LNA in the bandwidth of 3.1 to 10.6 GHz is proposed. The design is based on inductor-less configuration using the resistive shunt feedback topology and noise canceling techniques for wi...

A Highly LinearLNA with Noise Cancellation for 5.8–10.6 GHz UWB Receivers

This paper presents a new ultra-wideband LNA which employs the complementary derivative superposition method in noise cancellation structure. A pMOS transistor in weak inversion region is employed for simultaneous second- and third-order distortion cancellation. Source-degeneration technique and two shunt inductors are added to improve the performance at high frequencies. The degeneration induc...

Ultra wideband (UWB) radio communication is capable of a high data rate with low radiated power. A key issue for UWB design is LNA input/output matching over a wide bandwidth: 3 to 5GHz for the lower band and 3 to 10GHz for the entire band. Several UWB LNAs have been proposed in recent years. The UWB CMOS LNA presented in [1] employs a Chebyshev filter for input matching and a source follower f...
